Our proposal for Bienengasse 19 in Graz won first prize in the invited competition in 2020.

Four buildings are arranged around a shared garden: two linear volumes continue the existing urban edges, while two freestanding houses open the centre of the site. The arrangement allows almost every apartment to face in two or three directions, bringing daylight, cross-ventilation and different views into the homes.

The landscape forms the centre of the project rather than the space left between buildings. Residents’ gardens, raised beds, an edible garden, planted walls and two communal garden kitchens create a network of private, semi-private and shared outdoor spaces.
