Second prize for Europaschule Linz

Our proposal for the extension and reorganisation of Europaschule Linz received second prize in the open competition.

The project begins with the existing school rather than treating the extension as a separate object. New and existing structures are connected through two narrow joints accommodating vertical circulation, allowing the different parts of the school to remain legible while functioning as one spatial system.

A transparent entrance level creates a new shared centre, while the upper floors provide additional learning spaces with a lighter timber façade and vertical timber elements.

The proposal explores how an existing school can gain new possibilities without losing what already works.
