Second prize for Post City Linz

Urban Planning · EU-wide Open Two-Stage Competition · 2nd Prize · 2019

Our joint proposal for Post City Linz received second prize in the EU-wide, open two-stage competition in 2019.

The competition asked for the transformation of the former postal site next to Linz Central Station into a new mixed-use urban district combining housing, offices, retail, hotel uses and public space.

Rather than treating the development as a collection of individual buildings, the proposal organised the large site around a sequence of strongly landscaped courtyards and connected public spaces. Architecture and landscape work together to break down the scale of the new district and create a clear spatial structure between the city and the railway.

Developed in collaboration with Hohensinn Architektur and gaft&onion.
