Caramella XXL

The conversion of an existing retail space in Graz’s historic city centre transforms a fragmented interior into a clear and continuous retail environment. Existing layers were stripped back, new openings were introduced and the spatial structure was reorganised to create stronger visual connections through the depth of the store.

Exposed brickwork forms the material backdrop, contrasted by precisely inserted black wall elements, display structures and lighting. Warm timber flooring and selected pieces of existing furniture soften the otherwise reduced palette and give the interior a more tactile character.

Rather than concealing the building’s existing fabric, the intervention uses the contrast between old and new as the central design principle. The result is a flexible retail space in which architecture, product display and lighting form a coherent whole.
